Why VEIR Technology
Safe, Reliable, and Modern Transmission
VEIR’s mission is to rapidly accelerate the growth in electric transmission capacity necessary for global decarbonization and grid resilience. VEIR is developing the next generation of superconducting electric transmission lines that operate with 5-10x the transfer capacity of conventional lines at a given voltage level, more than any other advanced conductor technology.
More capacity in smaller spaces
More capacity at a given voltage means that VEIR lines can increase the transfer capacities in existing corridors and reduce the space required for new corridors.
Quicker deployment of transmission lines
VEIR lines add much-needed capacity to the grid while triggering fewer siting and permitting requirements than conventional lines.
Non-variable sag and capacity
VEIR lines are actively cooled with liquid nitrogen, ensuring the power flow capacity and sag of VEIR power lines do not vary with ambient weather conditions.

About VEIR
A Cool New Approach to Transmission
VEIR’s innovation is shaped by more than 30 years of work in the field of superconducting power lines. By introducing a distributed, evaporative approach to liquid nitrogen cooling, we are revolutionizing transmission and stand ready to help ensure a safe, reliable, and modern electric grid.
